Press Release - Worldwide distribution of Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Engineers Survey - December 2009

ExpatJob.net Group through their five Engineering and Technical Job boards have conducted a survey amongst its 98,000 members to produce this report on the distribution and makeup of people working in the worldwide Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industries.

The survey size is over 27,000 job seekers who have registered and completed a comprehensive profile in our Engineering and Technical CV database. 65% of the data was collected in 2009. The remaining data is less than four years old.

Over 58% of the Survey Sample (62% if we include Pipelines) has experience in the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical Industries. This represents a sample size of approximately 17,000 Job Seekers.

Executive Summary

When sourcing Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Engineers our survey indicates that the vast majority of Engineers and Technical specialist will most likely be nationals of India, UK or the Philippines, and they would be currently working in India, UAE, Qatar, UK or Saudi Arabia.

1,345 Job Seekers stated they had LNG experience (10%) and 250 indicated that they would specifically like to work in Australia (2%). Australian nationals in the survey with Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical experience numbered 452, with only 45 of them currently working overseas.

The Oil, Gas and Petrochemical specialists most easily available were Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers, Planning /Scheduling Engineers, Maintenance Engineers, Construction Engineers, Instrumentation Engineers, Electrical Engineers and QA/QC Engineers.

On the contrary, the specialists most difficult to find are Marine/Barge specialists, Subsea Specialists and Pipeline Specialists.

We are currently carrying out an international salary survey amongst our members. The results of the survey will be made available in January/February 2010.
