Job Description

CA Global: Engineering and Construction (Africa Positions) has a client that is in need of a Senior Construction/Planning Engineer. The project will be based in Sudan

Overview:
To supervise the Contractor’s planning activities and monitor the contractor’s progress of work.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervise the contractor’s planning activities for timely submission of programmes required by the contract
• Review and approve the contractor’s programmes
• Monitor actual progress against approved construction programme
• Analyse potential delays and advise corrective actions
• Assist with review and approval of the contractor’s method statements
• Assist with assessment of the contractor’s potential claims for extension of time
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual client progress reports
• Contact and cooperation with other members of the client supervision team.
• Other duties as may be required by the project

This position requires liaison with the following personnel:
• Chief Resident Engineer/Project Manager
• Chief Engineers of the supervision team
• Client
• The contractor

Key Performance Indicators
• Client satisfaction with project delivery
• Quality and timeliness of reporting

Requirements:
• University degree in engineering or construction management
• 15 years or more postgraduate experience with at least 10 years in construction planning/ scheduling and/or management of hydropower, dam, heavy civil works or similar projects
• Demonstrable understanding of concrete and embankment dam construction methodologies mandatory
• Competent in planning and organising work schedules
• Knowledge of Primavera Software P3 or P3e
• Ability to prepare reports and technical papers
• Cultural sensitivity
• Fluency in written and spoken English
