Sterlite Industries (India) Limited, the operating company of Vedanta in copper business in India is the first private sector company to set up a copper smelter and refinery in India and operates one of the largest continuous cast copper rod plant. Sterlite’s copper operation include a 400,000 tonnes per annum smelter, refinery, sulphuric and phosphoric acid plants and copper rod plant at Tuticorin in Southern India, a refinery and two copper rod plants at Silvassa in Western India, and a 100% owned subsidiary copper mine in Australia.
Reporting to the Head of Copper Concentrate Sourcing, the primary objective of the Copper Concentrate Sourcing Consultant will be establishing new mine direct Long Term copper concentrate contracts. This will be achieved through identification of targets, approaching them, carrying out necessary due diligence, discussions with mines, negotiating, drafting and finalization of the contract along with company’s own procurement team.
To be successful for this role you will possess:
- Minimum of 10 years commercial experience, with significant experience in copper mining/smelting sector or in a related trading company;
- Recognised industry experience in the sourcing and purchasing of copper concentrate and have sound industry networks in this sector;
- Recognised qualifications in metallurgy, commerce or business would be preferred;
- Advanced contracts and communication skills (in English);
