Position Description
The candidate is to:
1. Be responsible for providing professional education and training in the nautical science.
2. Serve as an expert Instructor in one or more of the following disciplines - Navigation (Terrestrial, Celestial, Electronic), Safety Training, Seamanship, Bridge Resource Management (BRM), Ship handling, RADAR, ARPA, Proficiency in Survival Craft, Meteorology, Stability and Trim, Small Vessel Operations, Cargo Handling and Stowage, etc.
3. Maintain the highest level of technical expertise in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Standards of Training, Certification, and watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW) and international standards, laws, and regulations relating to the training and certification of seafarers.
Selection Criteria
The candidate should have:
1. Class 1 Master Certificate of Competency (Unlimited Master).
2. Valid STCW-95 Certificate.
3. Minimum of 5-year experience at sea.
4. Instructor Certificate.
5. Minimum of 5-year experience in the marine training field.
6. Ability to teach all the required safety courses for mariners.
7. Ability to develop training manuals for any new course.
8. Flexibility to teach onshore and offshore in English.
9. Flexibility to work on any work schedule.
10. Excellent Communication in English.
Comments
Marine Department provides marine services to other company departments, including material and crew transportation, berthing and unberthing of oil tankers, offshore security and pollution control, and /or support of offshore drilling and production activities.
Minimum Requirements
A1. Bachelor's Degree (Industrial/Vocational Education or in some cases Engineering/Science) plus four (4) years Industrial experience or as a trainer in industrial or vocational skills. OR
A2. Completion of ITC: English, ERW (English Reading & Writing); Math, MI (Industrial Math); (Expatriates must have a high school or equivalent certificate) plus eleven (11) years relevant industrial experience, including a minimum of one (1) year field assignment in the skill to be taught.
B. Completion of the Saudi Aramco Job Skills Trainer Certification Program.
C. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Proficiency in spoken and written Arabic is desirable.
Duties and responsibilities
A. Instructs trainees to terminal objectives of POI's in the overall plant systems and operations.
B. Obtains training material, supplies, A/V equipment, tools and training aids needed to conduct lessons.
C. Prepares personalized lesson plans from approved course control documents (POI's).
D. Adopts and/or constructs training aids.
E. Administers, proctors and grades written and performance tests.
F. Observes, counsels and evaluates trainees.
G. Prepares trainee records such as attendance, grade and progress sheets.
H. Maintains discipline, safety and housekeeping standards at his classroom, shop, or work site.
I. Recommends administrative actions for trainees.
J. Coordinates on-site training activities with plant personnel.
K. Advises on utilization of material, facilities, and equipment to support training.
L. Recommends improved training methods and procedures.
M. serves as a mentor for Industrial Skills Trainer II and Industrial Skills Instructors I & II.
N. Performs as subject matter expert for curriculum writers as part of a team member in the development, implementation and evaluation of curricula.
O. Performs other training and training related duties assigned by Supervisor.
P. Selects and arranges for field trips for trainees.
