Participates and monitors reservoir geological studies related to development and appraisal drilling undertaken by assigned team. Monitors the coring program to ensure adoption of proper coring methods and techniques. Updates existing reservoir geological models after cutting new cores. Provides expertise on sore analysis techniques and monitors progress of core analysis work undertaken by contractors. As required.
Accountabilities:
• Leads all geological field work in the fields/areas assigned to his team, includes directing the work of geologists on well site and visiting operational sites to monitor operations as requested.
• Ensures timely and accurate completion of core description, reservoirs, appraisals sheets, periodic reports, geological maps and cross sections
• Monitors the coring program and recommends adoption of proper coring methods and techniques (oriented coring, horizontal coring, fiber glass, sponge core, etc.)
• Participates in early assessment of the reservoir in newly drilled wells. Optimizes selection of perforation intervals for testing or completion. Optimizes selection of samples for routine and special core analyses.
• Advises team members on matters related to conventional, special and other core analyses techniques. Monitors and supervises work undertaken by core analysis contractor.
• Maps and correlates geological data in digital formats, as required.
• Prepares periodic geological re-appraisal reports of the main reservoir in his filed and reports on appraisal drilling.
• Calculates, annually, hydrocarbon in place in assigned filed per reservoir.
• Keeps abreast of technological development in the filed of petroleum geology, includes attending conferences, seminars and reviewing technical periodicals.
• Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Participates in the training and development of assigned UAE national employees. Includes monitoring and reporting on progress and counseling employees, as required.
• Knows the company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.
Bachelors degree in Geology
8 years experience in Petroleum Geology.
