Job Description

 Managing the in-county drilling of Exploration and Production Wells, Completions and Work-overs and ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements and Company’s Drilling Operations Policies and Procedures.
 Perform duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner.
 Daily Operations Meeting.
 Monthly HSE Committee Meeting at Company’s Main Office or Rig/Well Site.
 Operational Meetings with Senior Management at Company’s Main Office – as required.
 Technical Committee Meeting (TCM).
 Conferring with the Country Manager, Drilling Engineer and Drilling Superintendent on the planning and execution of Drilling, Completions and Work-over programs.
 Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) during planning stages.
 Providing drilling technical leadership.
 Monitor daily drilling activities.
 Recommending and administering various plans, policies, and programs related to drilling activities.
 Ensuring drilling programs, program amendments and dispensations to policy are prepared on schedule and are adequately risk assessed.
 Monitoring all phases of the drilling operations.
 Travelling to the field locations to monitor and participate in drilling operations.
 Observing service company operations and inspections.
 Recommending engineering studies to improve drilling operational performance.
 Mentoring and training of national drilling staff.
 Reporting to the Country Manager on administrative matters.
 Working closely with resource teams, geologists, production personnel and service company personnel to ensure an efficient operation.
 Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety and quality management.
 Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors.
 Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
 Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
 Preparation of the yearly AFE budget and expenditure for the Drilling Department.
 Final review for approval of 3rd Party Contractors ‘Invitation to Bid’ (ITB) both Technical and Commercial.
 Final review and approval of all 3rd Party Service & Supply Contracts prior to submission to the Country Manager.
 Final approval and signature for all Material Requisitions for the Drilling Department.
 Final review and approval (or disapprove as the case may be) for all 3rd Party Contractors Variations for the relevant Contract.
 Maintains current personal International Well Control Forum (IWCF) certification.
 Develop a drilling team with continuous improvement, on-job and off-site training programs.
 Minimum of 5 years as Drilling Manager on fields located onshore or offshore.
 Proven knowledge and responsibility of Horizontal Drilling.
 Minimum of 20 years of experience in drilling activities in fields onshore and offshore.
 Current International Well Control Forum (IWCF) certification prior to start of job position.
 Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
 Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment.
 A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering field or accepted technical background and experience by the Company.
