Leading global consultancy has experienced strong and rapid growth within the Singapore office and has identified one of the main areas for development is Risk and Safety (R&S) service provision to the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, general manufacturing, utilities, property and financial sectors, among others.
Singapore hosts numerous regional operations and headquarters major international companies which present significant opportunities for developing ERM Singapore’s R&S business. As Director – Risk and Safety, you will focus specifically on developing the company’s business in this sector.
The company’s growth also presents the challenge of developing systems and structures that will enable the growth to continue. We are developing a more defined structure for the Singapore office, with teams of staff reporting formally to Partners/ Directors. As Director – Risk and Safety, you will develop and lead a team of professionals for the provision of R&S services as the business grows under your leadership.
This is a Director position with two primary roles:
1. Building a strong R&S practice generating annual sales in the region of S$ 2m.
2. Developing and managing a team of R&S consultants. You will work with the Managing Partner and other Directors on hiring and developing the R&S team.
Responsibilities:-
- The role would focus upon developing client relationships and identifying new opportunities for growth of the company's services in the oil and gas and other sectors. As a team leadership role, you will also provide support to the Managing Partner on the day-to-day management of the company, particularly in relation to R&S services.
R&S Team Leader:
- Ensuring that projects are planned and programmed to deliver the agreed outputs to the client on time, on budget and to specify quality standards.
- Identifying and building project teams which have an appropriate balance of skills to complete delivery, including identifying technical expertise, recognizing the need to develop junior employees.
- Leading and motivating staff and developing their skills by supporting their work on projects.
- Acting as a direct point of contact for clients - liaising with clients to ensure that they are kept informed of progress, that any changes are advised and agreed, and that their concerns are heard and addressed.
- Identification and pursuit of potential business opportunities with client organizations, including initiating and attending client meetings, preparation of proposals etc.
- Providing technical expertise into R&S projects and technical mentoring to team members.
- Ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with the ERM quality management system and project quality procedures.
- Participating in the Singapore management team with a view to influencing the culture and performance of the business through strong leadership. The Singapore management team focuses on business development and practice development through attracting, developing and retaining our talented professional staff.
- Assisting the Managing Partner and other Directors in growing the business and achieving the financial performance metrics set for the operating company with particular emphasis on the R&S practice. This requires a diligent work ethic, ensuring prompt invoicing, controlling costs, meeting billability goals, meeting project profitability (vs. budget) goals, managing WIP (unbilled charges) and accounts receivable and prudent risk management.
Requirements:-
- Masters or Bachelor in Engineering
- 15 to 20 years experience managing a variety of Risk and Safety projects, with an emphasis on QRA and HAZOP
- Proven ability to develop business
- Proven project management and implementation skills
- Proactive and with strong organizational, interpersonal, communication and administrative skills
- Strong leader with keen interest to help develop and mentor consultants
