Position Description PRIMARY DAY TO DAY DUTIES: Conduct reservoir simulation studies. This includes model construction, history matching, calibration and prediction phases. Present and participate in project technical reviews. Prepare progress reports on regular basis and final documentation upon completion of a study. Apply special simulation modeling techniques for complex reservoir studies according to the candidate's specialty. Propose and study various alternatives to develop new fields and/or optimize current production / injection strategies and has ability to analyze problems and recommend practical solutions. Evaluate and apply new modeling techniques, tools or technologies. Provide expert training and teach in-house technical courses to develop the young Saudi Aramco engineers. Get involved with national and international professional societies. Represent Saudi Aramco in industry committees or specialized groups as appropriate. Selection Criteria MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: BS in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent technical field. PREFERED REQUIREMENTS: Education: MS or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent technical field and intensive industry training including appropriate specialized courses and seminars. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 15 years of related experience, including 10 years of intensive experience in the area of reservoir simulation. Candidate must have an outstanding technical capability in numerical reservoir simulation in which the candidate has received broad industry recognition through publications, committee activities, etc. Key specialized area can be any one of the followings: # Fractured reservoir modeling (DPDP). # Compositional Modeling # Complex well and Smart Completion modeling # Integrated surface facility and subsurface modeling # SCAL and PVT modeling applications. # Neural network and artificial intelligence applications # Streamline simulation Comments RESERVOIR DESCRIPTION & SIMULATION DEPARTMENT BASIC FUNCTIONS Provide formation evaluation services (interpretation, witnessing jobs, petro-physical analysis and logging programs) to the E&P organization Serve as custodian of all Saudi Aramco well logs and log data. Serve as proponent for all company logging contracts and monitor logging contractor performance. Coordinate efforts to test and deploy new formation evaluation tools and technologies. Serve as custodian of Petroleum Engineering & Producing corporate database. Issue the Annual Oil Field Technical Report. Coordinate the preparation of Saudi Aramco's oil and gas availability on a monthly basis. Coordinate well testing activities (design/witness exploratory and special development wells). Undertake reservoir-modeling studies for all major reservoir/fields to optimize the development/production strategies of the company's hydrocarbon assets. Estimate reserves and OOIP (original oil in place) for major fields/reservoirs. Duties and responsibilities A. Provides expert advice and assistance on operating problems relating to his area of expertise. B. Specifies design criteria and relevant operating parameters for development of BI's and/or new projects within his area of expertise. C. Participates in project technical reviews and reviews proposals for new or changed operating procedures on his area of expertise to ensure efficient and economic operations. D. Conducts economic studies on cost analysis as appropriate to resolve alternative causes of action relative to his area of expertise. E. Acts as Task Force Leader as assigned to solve special problems in his area of expertise. F. Originates ideas for improvements, develops a basis for required field testing and Management review, analyses results and recommends new or changed procedures and/or facilities. G. Recommends, designs and oversees suitable outside investigations to resolve problems which exceed current engineering knowledge in his specialty. H. Represents Aramco in technical contacts with Shareholders and SAG representatives dealing with company procedures or proposed operations relative to his area of expertise.
