Job Description
|
Fluor Australia is seeking expressions of interest from Engineering Managers to provide overall engineering management direction to Project Managers and Principal/Chief Engineers on a day to day basis.
The successful candidates must be experienced in leading, supervising and developing engineers in senior management roles, preferably in the mining & metals environment.
You must also have a thorough understanding of the operations of a design office environment, be fully conversant with the complexities and demands of projects in relation to the engineering function, and have the overall day to day responsibility of the engineering function, as it impacts on the activities of the design office and projects.
The responsibilities of the position include: Performing manpower planning and forecasting, based on input from Principal/Chief engineers and performance manage a number of Principal/Chief engineers.
The successful applicant will also become involved in salary administration activities, preparation of budgets, as well as provision of support for proposals. You will also support the discipline Principal/Chief engineers on assignments, as required.
You will be required to travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals. The Engineering Manager will regularly report to the Office General Manager on project progress and significant engineering issues. You will also be required to provide Business Development support as deemed necessarily.
Management Skills: Extensive experience managing senior engineers, and dealing with other senior management, and client representatives.
Leadership skills: Ability to demonstrate strong leadership that generates confidence amongst team members at all levels.
People Skills: Possess well developed interpersonal skills, and feel at ease providing advice to less experienced engineers.
Communication skills: Possess well developed communication skills, supported by an open willingness to share information and ideas with team members.
