Job Description

Well established power utility is seeking a Generation Planning Engineer for a direct hire position in NE Atlanta GA. Candidate will anticipate near term (one day to 1 year) electric utility system requirements and analyze the engineering and reliability aspects of power system alternatives in generation to formulate recommend and maintain the most economical and reliable plan for the system. Candidate will develop and maintain Automatic Generation Control systems and be the resident expert on load forecasting systems and their integration into control room functions. Candidate must have knowledge of Generation Operations and Planning with specific background in one of the following areas: AGC load forecasting generation dispatch philosophy NERC policies and reliability reporting. Must be proficient in PC spreadsheet and database applications with ability to write and/or trouble shoot macros. Worked with utility energy management systems. BSEE (or equiv. exp) required along with 3 to 7 years of electric utility industry experience with 2 to 4 years of electric generation planning or operations experience required.
