Job Description

A Traffic Signals Design Engineer is needed to join a busy Traffic and Transport team in the South West.

Your position will be to identify and report on the performance of the network in terms of congestion and journey reliability, highlighting areas where it can be improved and identify potential solutions. Also provide up to date traffic information and advice to the technical teams for the assessment of the development of schemes.

You will aid in the delivery of signs and markings designs to the highways and structures team and provide traffic and capacity advice for the other schemes to deliver the outcomes agreed by the Network Board to the programmes and budgets agreed with the Delivery Teams.

Other duties will include

Continuously monitor the performance of the network in terms of congestion and reliability and identify areas of weakness.
Professional and Technical Excellence in traffic engineer and signs and markings design.
Report to the Delivery Teams on a bi-weekly basis, on performance against budget and programme.
Aid in the management of resources in the Traffic Team to deliver the agreed outcomes for schemes and other traffic advice in association with the Roads Manager.
Ensure that the Traffic Team have adequate training and resources in association with the Roads Manager.
Manage external resources used by the Traffic Team in association with the Technical Manager.

For this role you will need to have delegation, team building and strong communication skills to be able to communicate targets and priorities. You will be a Chartered Engineer or equivalent with a wealth of experience and knowledge HA procedures and DMRB/MDCHW design codes.
