Production Operations Manager

Report to V.P. Operations
Responsibilities include, but are not exclusive to:

Control and manage offshore production operations of Jasmine Oilfield in the Gulf of Thailand. Production is currently from five wellhead platforms at approximately 27,000 BOPD. Provide expertise in ESP artificial lift as the primary mode of production. Work with the vendor on the supply management and coordinate with the Subsurface Group on the sizing of this equipment. We have 63 systems in the ground. Work with the Subsurface group on establishing the optimum production rates that minimize the influx of water.
Co-ordinate and manage all aspects of the supply chain management for the Jasmine Field operations. This includes the use of three field boats and one helicopter and one supply base. Note: This function has been moved to a new department head in late June 2008.
From initial start-up in 2005, headed up the Maintenance Group that is responsible for all Preventative Maintenance programmes. This function was transferred to a Maintenance Specialist under the Production Department in November 2008, who will integrate these efforts with the new Asset Integrity Management programme that is just in the initial stages of implementation.
Lead a dynamic and expanding operations engineering team.
Control and accountable for Operating budget of $72 million.
Co-ordinate the Offtake details with PTT, our crude buyer.
Determine field operating personnel requirements and conduct the recruitment of same.
Sign off with Field Manager on training programs for field operating personnel.
Sign off with Field Manager on platform operating procedures and guidelines.
Developed the initial well control philosophy and SCADA requirements.

Production Manager/Senior Production Operations Specialist
Reported to Operations Manager
Responsibilities include, but are not exclusive to:
Control and manage daily production operations of the Limau Field in South Sumatra, Indonesia to determine performance improvement for specific wells.
Control and manage service rig operations to ensure correct intervention procedures are followed and that safety is the number one priority; provide advice/direction as to alternative or new technology.
Set well servicing priorities to maximize production and optimize service rig time.
Monitor ESP systems run life and maintenance schedules – we were running 18 systems.
Review, approve and assist in design of well service, completion/workover programmes, production optimization programmes such as the installation of ESP systems and Reverse Coning systems; advise/direct field personnel on remedies to production problems; troubleshooting problems.
Other programmes included a horizontal well, under balanced drilling of a directional well with a snubbing completion, deepening of wells to run a liner or expose additional casing to allow the perforation of an untested zone, acid washes, fracturing treatments and slickline work involved in PBUs or static gradients.
Sing off on the design criteria for the new Schlumberger Cased Hole Resistivity Log suite; a 4 well program was conducted; re-completions on 3 wells based on log results.
Provide coaching to National staff on the implementation of new technology.
Compile and submit, with input from the field and operations personnel, the yearly Work Programme and Budget to USD $26 million. Formal presentation of same to Pertamina.
Write Tender Specifications for equipment used in oil production and processing: technical evaluation of Tenders for the purchase of materials, equipment and services: scale inhibitors, de-emulsifiers, equipment such as water injection pumps, ESP systems, gas separators and nut-shell filters.
Provide input for the compilation of a “Long Range Plan” for the continuation of Limau Field, which included the use of ESPs (medium and high volume), waterflooding, plus a proposal for an ASP flood, 3D seismic survey, horizontal and vertical well drilling.
Stand in as Operations Manager: responsibilities are approval of invoices, review and approval of Material Requisitions, Purchase Orders and Service Work Orders.

Niko Resources Ltd. December 1996 – March 31, 1998
General Manager - India Operations
Reported to CEO and the President of Niko Resources Ltd.
Responsibilities included all consortium correspondence, administrative and financial functions in connection with the activities of all oil and gas fields of the Joint Venture in India.
Control and manage the Hazira Gas Field operations. Hazira Gas field at the time was producing 7.4 mmcfd sweet gas, with a manpower of 10 Nationals; two oilfields with a manpower of 12 Nationals, in addition to one expatriate superintendent and two National supervisors.
Direct the safety training for the National staff.
Direct the operation of the Baroda Head Office with a staff of 8 Nationals.
Liase with government officials in the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Joint Venture partner), and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (Government of India).
Compile and submit yearly Work Programme and Budget (plus quarterly revisions of same) to Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons.
Design completion/workover programmes and supervise same.
Compile and arrange Open Tenders on materials or services as per requirements of the Government of India.

Compania Espanola De Petroleos S.A. (“Cepsa”) May 1996 - November 1996
Field Production Supervisor (Algeria)
Reported to CEPSA’s Production Superintendent.
Responsibilities included working in RKF field in Algerian desert, approx. 160 nautical miles S.E. of Hassi Massoud, on 28/28 rotation.
Develop testing and maintainance procedures of wellhead valves, SSSV systems and surface chokes. Instruct National work crews on these maintenance procedures within a safety framework.
Develop corrosion management programmes for wellbore maintenence.
Maintain inventory for all parts and equipment for slickline operations, wellhead maintenance, SSSV systems with eigh month lead time.
Compile annual budget and submit to project supervisor.
Provide expertise in well control for high pressure gas injection wells and high volume gasey oil wells.
Provide supervision for the running of casing liners and completion equipment and coiled tubing, snubbing, slickline, electric logging and perforating operations.
The RKF wells were approximately 3700 metres deep; producers flowed at 2400 psi FTHP, sweet light high GOR crude.

Svenska Petroleum Exploration U.K. Ltd. - February & March 1996
Workovers Engineer (Lithuania)
Reported to Genciu Nafta’s Technical Manager.
Responsiblities included: the engineering and preparation of well workover programmes for re-entry of old oil wells; sweet, light waxy crude.
Analyze workover requirements; provide technical advice on the selection of the downhole equipment.

Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd. July 1994 - January 1996
Workover & Well Testing Supervisor (Kazakhstan)
Reported to Operations Superintendent in Kyzyl Orda.
Responsibilities included working in central Kazakh desert on 28/28 rotation; nearest town is Kzyl-Orda.
Develop professional working relationships with all Kazakh personnel, utilizing interpretors when necessary.
Supervise Kazakh service rig on well workovers and production testing; wells are 1200 - 1600m deep, with sweet, light, waxy crude. Initiate a safety awareness regimen from the outset.

Work in Western Siberia in the Povkhneftegas oilfield, on 28/28 rotation.
Liaise with the Russian Povkhneftegas District Production Management on a daily basis to co-ordinate Russian supplied services and provide daily rig report updates.
Provide 24 hour supervison for workovers and re-completions on wells over 3000m depth; most of the wells were overpressured due to waterflood operations.
Workovers included perforating with EHSC guns, fishing, running REDA ESP systems or sucker rod pumps, acid washes and scale inhibitor squeezes.

Freelance Completions/Workover Supervisor (Canada) Winter 1993
Barnwell of Canada and Coenerco Resources in the Zama Lake and Rainbow Lake Fields in Northern Alberta. Provide programme design and rig supervision for well workovers and completions, including casing corrosion logs, perforating, cement and acid squeezes and flow testing. These wells are sour to 3.5% H2S.

Western Oilfield Environmental Services Ltd. February 1992 - December 1996
Environmental Consultant/Advisor
Provide professional services when in Canada and report to the Manager of Engineering. Responsibilities included environmental audits of production processing facilities and wellsites, provide feedback and advice to client; conduct gas migration surveys on wellsites scheduled for abandonment; compilation and supervision of well abandonment programmes. .
July 1995: designed and implemented an open-hole re-entry programme to determine and eliminate the causes for surface gas migration and re-abandon the well.

Team leader in the design of the industry procedure for soils gas surveys for determining gas migration problems outside of the surface casing and encorporation of this into an industry standard for abandonment of wells.
