Work Experience |
Company founded to provide instrument engineering consultancy and design services to the pharmaceutical and petrochemical industries
September 2006 to June 2008. CB&I John Brown Ltd. LNG offloading terminal for Chinese National Offshore Oil Company. Work in Chengdu/Shanghai/Putian as Control Systems Engineer responsible for integrated DCS/ESD/Fire and Gas control systems. This included design work in Chengdu, further design and supervision of ABB Control Systems in Shanghai and site installation, test and commissioning in Putian.
April 2003 to June 2006. Simon Carves Ltd Stockport. BYC/BASF Integrated Petrochemical Site LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) plant, China. Work in Shanghai offices of Emerson Process Management on DCS implementation of control system and Triconex/Hima Emergency Shutdown Systems. Responsible for co-ordination of all work between Stockport and Shanghai offices for all process systems including reactor shutdown, emergency shutdown, compressors, extruders and all proprietary equipment. Client meetings and negotiation. Sitework at Nanjing to supervise and commission the plant including all subvendor equipment and analyser houses. Work closely with the client and licensor to ensure smooth startup.
September 2002 to March 2003. Work on Astra Zeneca Ltd Macclesfield site to refurbish pharmaceutical production facility to FDA standards. This involved working directly with the clients engineers to design and specify the instrumentation and control system philosophies through to purchase requisitions for the equipment and installation contractor services. This included design meetings, HAZOP reviews, bid analysis and equipment selection. The work included glass lined reactors and their control systems, glove boxes, centrifuges, clean areas, storage tank farms.
April 2002 to August 2002. Simon Carves Ltd, Stockport. Combined low/high density polyethylene plants for China and Iran. Fieldbus Foundation technology, ESD, fire and gas, rotating equipment. Design using Shell Standards.
January 1998 to November 2001. Croda Leek Ltd. Design, engineer and specification of instrumentation and control systems, HAZOP reviews, purchase requisitions, installation and test/commissioning of plant including: FDA validated Supercritical CO2 purification plant for medicinal quality oils. high quality edible oil refining plant; LIPID oil production plant; product storage facilities; new reaction plant; site alarm systems; year 2000 audit; effluent monitoring systems; edible oil purification plant.
May to July 2000. Pro-De-Zine Ltd. Work on packages for pharmaceutical plant. These included Heinkel centrifuges, pressure filters, laminar booths, chillers, carbon bed adsorbers, clean room ventilation plant, process building ventilation plant air handling units and HVAC plant.
January to July 1997, Simon Carves Ltd, Stockport. Work in South Korea on behalf of Hyundai Petrochemical Company. Detail engineering of low density polyethylene plant. Work included computer control of plant with Honeywell DCS, process logic, cause and effect diagrams, emergency shutdown systems, high pressure compressors, extruder/pelletising equipment, inline instrumentation and liaison with client and subcontractors.
