Stonecutters Bridge, Hong Kong (November 2005 to present)
Principal Checking Engineer, Tony Gee and Partners employed by contractor Maeda JV as Independent Checking Engineer for all temporary works and erection equipment including modifications to the permanent structure. Duties include coordination of design checking, site inspection and the issuing of design and construction certificates at each stage of construction. Stonecutters bridge is a 1.6 km. long cable stayed bridge crossing the Rambler channel of Hong Kong’s port, with a main span of 1018 m, and is likely to be the world’s longest span cable stayed bridge. Construction value US$ 354 million.

Shaikh Zahed Bridge, Abu Dhabi (September 2005)
Consultant to VSL Singapore, Technical Centre Asia/Australia. Design of erection equipment for the Shaikh Zahed Bridge in Abu Dhabi. A triple steel arch structure with concrete deck, designed by Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid and will link Abu Dhabi Island with the mainland. Construction cost US$ 180 million.

Hanoi Urban Transport Development Project (HUTDP), Hanoi, Vietnam. (August 2005)
Consultant to Scott Wilson and MVA. Advising on and review of bridge design proposals for the HUTDP, including Super Tee and voided slab type bridge structures.

CP Petrochemical Plant Fire. (December 2004 to October 2005)
Consultant to Scott Wilson. Project Manager for assessment, demolition and re-building of fire damaged concrete building.
Inspection of fire damaged building, determination of structural damage and preparation of damage assessment report to Insurers. Preparation of demolition plans and project management of controlled partial demolition, whist maintaining production of adjacent plastics plant. Preparation of re-building plans and contract documents. Issue and review tender documents and supervise re-construction.

A380 Aircraft Hanger Design at KLIA, Malaysia. (December 2004 to present)
Consultant to Scott Wilson. Design Project Manager for a consortium of Malaysian and Thai contractors. Tender design of a 230 m. clear span maintenance hanger, for the new A380 Airbus aircraft for Malaysian Airlines.

International Exhibition Centre - Hong Kong International Airport. (December 2003 to June 2004)
Consultant to Scott Wilson. Design of long span steel roof structures for the exhibition center. The building comprises three separate halls, with roof spans of up to 77 m. The design is carried out as designer to the French contractor under a design, build and operate contract.

International Exhibition Centre - Hong Kong International Airport. (July 2004 to November 2004)
Consultant to Scott Wilson. Seconded to fabrication sub-contractor, team leader for the detailed steel connection design at the China Merchants fabrication yard in Shekou, China.

Thai Airways Main Hanger Construction (October 2003 to January 2004)
Consultant and advisor to VSL - Heavy Lifting Division. Methods, procedures and lifting design for erection of the 7,000 ton roof structure.

Bangkok New International Airport – Aircraft Hanger for Bangkok Airways (October 2003 to present)
Consultant to Scott Wilson. Design of aircraft maintenance facility for Bangkok Airways, including overall concept and planning in line with the airline’s business development plans. Sizing, layout and design of the hanger for the existing fleet, and expansion for the future Boeing 7E7. The hanger building has a span of 180 m and depth of 70 m.

BHP Lysaght Pre-Engineered Buildings – Vietnam and Thailand – (October 2003 to November 2003)
Consultant to Scott Wilson. Design Audit and Quality Assurance review of BHP Lysaght design procedures for the design of pre-engineered steel buildings at the BHP offices in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok.
Bangkok New International Airport – Thai Airways Main Hanger (February 2003 to September 2003)
Consultant to Scott Wilson responsible for the design of the Thai Airways main hanger at the new Bangkok International Airport. A major steel structure with a clear span of 270 m. capable of servicing three super jumbo aircraft.

Westlink M7 Highway project, Sydney, Australia. (January 2003 to February 2003)
Consultant to Abigroup Leighton Joint Venture. Design of temporary works for cantilever bridge construction.
Sungai Prai Bridge Project, Penang, Malaysia. (March 2002 to February 2003)
Consultant to Ballast Nedam for the 1.8 km. long segmental concrete viaduct with a main cable-stay span of 185 m. Design and advising on specialist bridge erection equipment, temporary works and bridge design issues.
Road Widening and Interchange Program, Thailand. (March 2001 to March 2002)
Project Manager for WS Atkins/STS Engineering Consultants on the DOH’s Road Widening and Interchange Program, under an IBRD funded project, including 8 new major highway interchanges across Thailand. Construction value approx. US$ 90 million.
Topographical, geotechnical and hydrological surveys, traffic study and analysis. Detailed engineering design of highway, drainage structures, bridges, lighting, signing, etc.

MRTA Depot Project, Bangkok. (January 1999 to February 2001)
Consultant to Halcrow Asia as designer to SNMC, for the MRTA Initial System Depot project.
Design of elevated depot platform with an area of some 250,000 sq.m. built under a design and construct project with a Thai-Japanese contracting consortium.

Extension of Don Muang Tollway, Bangkok . (May 1997 to May 1999)
Project Manager for Upham International Corporation, responsible for the construction supervision of the Don Muang Tollway Extension. A seven kilometer northern extension to the Tollway, together with the connection to the Second Stage Expressway. Project value US$ 160 million.
Engineer’s Representative on behalf of the Department of Highways, Ministry of Communications, Thailand.
Overall responsibility for the design and build project, including construction supervision, liaison with the design and design checking teams, the independent engineer, and the client.

Construction of Bangkok Chonburi New Highway. (June 1994 to May 1997)
Construction management of the Bangkok Chonburi New Highway, under a contract funded by OECF. Project value US$ 840 million.
Structures Engineer for Upham International Corporation, representing OECF/DOH interests for overall construction of over 120 bridges together with canal crossings and drainage structures, including design variations. Control of 21 individual contracts and Resident Engineer teams.

Technical Advisor, L & M Prestressing, Taiwan. (June 1993 to September 1993)
Technical advisor for the specialist erection equipment of the Mucha interchange on the second Northern Taiwan Freeway.
Design, supervision of fabrication, operation of form carriers for balanced cantilever construction. Technical assistance for incremental launching project.
Responsibilities included all aspects of designing, setting up and operating the specialist erection equipment, and of obtaining the client's approval.

Dywidag Consortium, Bangkok. (January 1991 to June 1993)
Engineering Manager to the German contractor on the Don Muang Tollway, a design, build and operate concession. Project value US$ 400 million.
Responsible for the design and engineering of the complete project (geometry, road works, structural works, precasting yard, erection equipment, drainage, lighting, toll equipment) on the 15 kilometer elevated tollroad in precast prestressed concrete.
Overall management of the design teams, coordination with design checking consultant, obtaining approval of the Department of Highways, and liaison with construction teams.

Independent Consultant, Jakarta. (September 1988 to December 1990)
Self employed consultant providing technical assistance to the Indonesian Government on the Pasar Pagi Viaduct project.
Advising on all aspects of tendering, bid evaluation and award of the contract under International Competitive Bidding in accordance with World Bank regulations.
Appointed as Engineer's Representative to control the construction of the precast segmental viaduct, using advancing shoring.

T.P.O'Sullivan & Partners, Jakarta. (February 1987 to August 1988)
The design of various highway structures for the Jakarta Urban Transportation Project
Work including the Pasar Pagi Viaduct, a 900 meter long elevated viaduct, constructed through a restricted corridor in the central business area of Jakarta, using segmental post-tensioned concrete construction (Project value US$12 million).

Freeman Fox International, Kuwait. (March 1985 to January 1987)
Resident Engineer on the Jahra/Ghazali Motorway Contract 3 in Kuwait City (Contract value US$ 66 million).
The project comprised:
ท the upgrading of 4.1 km of the existing roads to Expressway standard,
ท 1.85 km precast segmental viaduct structure,
ท a retained underpass below an existing steel flyover, including the underpinning of the flyover,
Overall responsibility for the supervision and administration of the works under a FIDIC contract. Delegated authority of the Engineer, and with a total of 75 staff, including 25 expatriate engineers.

Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, Riyadh. (January 1982 to February 1985)
Resident Engineer on the construction of the Hijaz Road - Mecca Road Interchange in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The position entailed complete responsibility for the administration and supervision of the project, which comprised:
ท 8 km of pre-cast, epoxy glued and post-tensioned segmental concrete bridges.
ท 22 km of highways and associated civil and electrical works.


Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, London. (June 1978 to January 1982)
Design of various concrete bridge structures:
ท Mecca Central Ring Road ($140 million) and Mecca Outer Ring Road ($90 million). Post-tensioned concrete structures with spans of between 35 and 55 metres.
ท Muna Interchange 33, Saudi Arabia ($81 million ). Six post tensioned concrete bridges continuous over 5 or 6 spans of 30 metres each.
ท Uraijah Muzhamiyah Road bridges ($21 million ). Two bridges each on twin superstructure across a deep drainage valley, one 450 metres and one 650 metres in length.
ท Contract 7 of the Jeddah Mecca Expressway, comprising three interchanges in post-tensioned continuous construction ($69 million).
ท Hijaz Road - Mecca Road Interchange in Riyadh, comprising over 8 kilometers of bridges. The span lengths on the 3 level interchange varied between 25 and 88 metres, and used a pre-cast segmental construction with epoxy glued joints using advanced shoring. ($90 million).

Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, Jeddah. (April 1977 to June 1978)
Senior Bridge Engineer, supervising the Jeddah Bypass Bridges Project in Saudi Arabia. 13 wadi bridges and 22 interchange bridges in both reinforced and prestressed concrete.

Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, London. (January 1976 to March 1977)
Structural design of the Jeddah Mecca Expressway (Contract 3, 4 and 5), together with sections of the Riyadh Ring Road.
In addition, prepared reports on soil investigations in the Jeddah area, together with documentation for further works.
