I was assigned the Naphtha Cracker (Ethylene, Propylene), Benzene, Butadiene, Ethylene Glycol, Linear Alkyle Benzene & Acrylonitrile (ACN) plants.
In ESD my responsibilities:
Studying the plant problem for the reliabilty and proposing the solution for the critical plant problems.
Revamping/Upgrading the obsolete instrumentation system
Manage Change of Design in plants instrumentation and control systems as per process requirement for energy saving and efficiency improvement. Design of the new control loops, Preparation of Specifications, Data sheets, Detail Engineering for procurement, construction and implementation of the Change of design. Verification/sizing and selection of Control valves, Orifice sizing calculation and design and selection of flow instruments and other process instruments as per process requirements.
Project construction supervision for the DCS installation and commissioning ( various DCS modules Marshalling rack wiring, HMI , Loop checking and commissioning. Field instrument checking for the instrument revamp project in the cracker plant. DCS was of Honeywell TDC-3000 and Safegaurding system of Triconex TMR.
I was involved in revamping of vibration system of Bentley Nevada 7200 system with 3300 system for three stage charge gas compressor, Ethylene compressor and propylene compressor.
I was one of the plant turn around coordinator. During the TA pereiod checking of following was carried out:
SRT heater controls, checking of Charge Gas compressors Vibration monitoring system, Antisurge control system, Seal oil, Lube oil control system and the other rotary machine protection system like temp monitoring. Emergency Shut Down system( ESD). verification of important ESD logics critical instrumentation such as : Programmable Logic Controllers, Flow, Level, Pressure & Temperature Transmitters, Controllers, Control Valves, Annunciators, Analysers, and other field instruments.
Construction monitoring:
I was for incharge for construction monotoring of instrument and control system of Butadiene plant process upgradation and debottle necking project. Process licensor was BASF. Control system selected was of Honeywell's TDC3000 (HPM, EPLCG, NIM ,HM ,US). For safety shutdown system PLC of Honeywell i.e. Logic Manager was selected. Plant was commissioned successfully. I was the focal person for construction monitoring, certifying loop calibration and loop checking. I also involved in commissioning of GHH screw compressor control and monitoring sysetm and safegaurding system of same butadiene plant.
I was involved in Construction and commissioning then after maintenance of instrumentation of Steam Boilers supplied by M/s. Mitsui, Japan, having capacity 130 T/H at 42 Kg/cm2 pressure and temp. 400 degC. The Burner Management System was of PLC "Network 90" of Bailey Japan. Control Instrumentation was of M/s. Yokogawa with single loop microprocessor based controllers. Work involved programming of controllers, calibration, and configuration.
