INDUSTRIAL/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I am currently working as Materials/Pavement Engineer at Group Consult Global (Pty) Ltd, constructing Morwa-Mmapole road and bridge across Notwane River.
Period: 12th October 2009 to-date
Duties include:
• Supervision and co-ordination of laboratory staff to ensure that all road materials used on site (e.g. road surfacing stones from quarries, Insitu and borrow-pit soil/gravel for road layers, concrete quality from slump tests & concrete strength tests etc) are sampled, tested accordingly and adhere/complies to contract specifications
• Approval and doing concrete mix-designs
• Classification of soils, crushed stone tests, field density and compaction tests, CBR tests, atterberg Limits tests, Grading tests and other necessary tests, analyse test results and recommend suitable use of materials
• To ensure that thorough records and summaries of all test calculations and results are maintained together with recommendations and comments
• Preparation of monthly materials reports and statistical analyses of tests carried out on work and workmanship
• To advise on materials handling and storage at site
• Quantify materials especially rocks blasted on site
• To check that sampling, testing and inspection of all materials complies with specified procedures, to monitor all tests and inform Supervisor about the results and recommendations.
• To ensure that there is regular calibration and certification of laboratory equipments to enable operation with accuracy required
• To check suitability on the Contractor’s proposals for all materials for incorporation in the works, and all materials specified in the contract.
• Preparation of minutes and other duties assigned by Supervisor
• Generally, duties involve doing all quality control tests on site to ensure adherence to contract specifications as mentioned above.

I worked as an Assistant Resident Engineer at Water Resources Consultants (Pty) Ltd constructing North South Carrier (N.S.C.) connection to Serowe project – water transfer scheme
Period: 1st September 2008 to 9th October 2009
Duties:
• Supervision and inspection of pipeline construction and related works
• Quantifying work
• Surveying-setting out, levels
• Quality control at site e.g. ensure adherence to specifications through materials testing, materials handling, checking levels & setting out etc
• Formworks
• Ensure adherence to set standards or contract specifications and as per drawings
• Assist in recording and preparation of progress reports for the project

I worked as an Assistant Water Engineer at Ghanzi District Council
Period: 24th July 2007 – 31st August 2008.
Experience gained:
• Design of water reticulation projects e.g. Metsimantsho Rural Water Supply project
• Involved in preparation of Tender documents, Appraisal & evaluation of tender applicants and award
• Inspect and/monitor on-going projects
• Prepares and update progress reports of on-going projects
• Propose new projects with estimated costs for each incoming financial years
• Design new sewerage systems and upgrading/extension of existing sewer
• Monitor and help with maintenance of sewerage

I was attached to Roads Department and was seconded to Africon Company (Botswana) constructing Moshupa River crossings in Moshupa.
Period: 6th March 2007 – 29th May 2007
