After leaving my tenure with Tamouh Investment LLC, I decided to take the opportunity and establish an Independent Development and Construction Consultant (Berkshire Management Consultancy). Our role is to offer consultancy services on a range of areas relating to the Construction and Real Estate industry in matters of Project Management, Business Development, Real Estate Design and Development Management. The company relocated and now operates out of France.

On completion of my tenure at Enmaa, I was transferred to Tamouh by the major shareholder, to act as an Executive Director and to assisting in the control of the direct development project on Al Reem island and together with all other projects currently in their portfolio. Tamouh has a diverse development portfolio ranging from residential, commercial, retail to hotel & leisure etc all with a current net value of 140Bn AED (US$40Bn). As ED the office’s main responsibility was the general operations of the development but also extended to assisting in the day to day running of the company and overseeing the various different department with the company, which included Sales and Marketing, Project Development, Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Property and Facilities Management and both attending and chairing Executive Management meetings and on occasion representing the CEO of the company during his time out of station.

Assisted in the start-up of a Non Governmental Development Authority company that would eventually be responsible for overseeing the all three master developers on the Al Reem Island development (US$300Bn). The Development Authority is responsible for the establishing comprehensive development and construction guidelines, Governmental and Municipality Approval procedures, Integration and negotiating of Utility services (Power, Water and Gas, Telecoms) to the main development. It also included the developing of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoU’s) with both the governmental departments and external service provider. Responsible for the design development of a fully integrated infrastructure system (roads and utilities) for the entire developments. The Development Authority is also responsible for setting and putting into place a community charge for all occupant of the island (270,000) that would fund the maintenance and operations of the common services within the development. Finally as ED of Enmaa it was the responsibility to report to the Main Shareholders board comprising of ED’s of all 3 of the master developers for the Al Reem Island.

Responsible for the Construction Management of a prestige development for a leading property developer in Dubai. The project was a predominantly a large residential development for approximate 20,000 residential units complete with a central retail hub (International City, Dubai) Total project construction cost was AED10Bn. As director of the Project is was the responsibility to deliver the project both on time and in Budget. Responsible for the engagement of all professional consultants and contractors.

Following on from Roberts and Partners, this was my initial entry point in the Middle East with Campenon Bernard, a leading French construction company that was awarded the Abu Dhabi Mall Design and Build contract. As Senior Design Engineer manager the responsibility was to ensure that all matter of design completed and delivered to the construction department on time and within budget.(1.5 Bn AED).

After University I decided to return back to Oxford and take a position with a local Design Engineering Company as a Senior Project Manager. There I was Project design manager for several M&E projects ranging from Call Centers, Retail, Telecommunication and a multi use development in Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi Trade Centre). I was seconded to the Construction Design team located in Abu Dhabi again where i was involved with the Design and Construction of a 1.5Bn Dhm Retail Residential, Hospitality and Commercial Development.

In 1993 I was divorced and decided to rethink my career path. I was accepted by the Oxford School of Architecture to study for a BA (Hons) in Architecture. For the next 4 years I attended Oxford Brookes University full time gaining a Upper Class 2nd Honours Degree (2:1) and a Post Graduate Masters Diploma in Energy Efficient Building Design (Sustainability).. During the holiday periods I worked with Stanhope Wilkinson Charted Architects, Oxford and Buro Happold Consulting designing and managing several constructions projects in both the Leisure and Healthcare industry.
