Vidin Bridge, Romania- Bulgaria Crossing.
Carried out sensitivity analysis to the bridge foundation and checked the slope stability and factor of safety using different soil parameters and water table level with the aid of Slope/W software.
Dubai Metro Project; United Arab Emirates (Value US$6 billion).
Reviewed and evaluated substantial financial claims (approx US$80m) received from Civil Works Sub-Contractors claiming prolongation, disruption and acceleration to contract works on the Project. The involvement incorporated the following areas:
• Research and review of events caused delay/disruption/acceleration together with supporting factual evidence and investigation of causes of design change related delays.
• Compilation and review of effects of the alleged events together with supporting factual evidence. Reviewing the financial claims submitted by Sub-Contractors together with evidence of actual payments made.
The role also involved investigating changes to Station Architecture, station context planning and their cost implications. The role further developed into assisting the Arbitration team in the investigation and forensic data gathering.
Jubilee and Northern Line Upgrade (Value £0.6 billion)
Structural Assessment of Signalling / Communication Fixings for JNP Lines Wayside track equipments and their supporting structures. The involvement incorporated the following areas:
• Assessment / detailed design of supporting structures for signalling equipments, Using BS5950, DMRB BD 94/07 (minor structures) with the aid of Master Frame Software.
• Producing outline design and” as built” AutoCAD Drawings.
• Conducting a study into the fundamental principles behind the design process and making recommendations for improvements.
• Improving the design templates in order to enable a thorough and consistent design process that can be checked in a logical and efficient manner. This required an advanced understanding of Excel and logic statements.
• Conducting sighting analysis in order to advise the client on how best to site equipment.
• Developing document management systems and then managing the system.
Sept 07 – Oct 2008, position: Graduate Civil

Structural assessment of the A13 Canning Town flyover piers.
Studied the effect of road layout improvement to flyover piers and assessed their strength to possible impact load.
Detailed design of Meath Garden pedestrian/cyclist bridge sub-structure.
Carried out the detailed design of the bridge’s sub structure (Piles, Pile Caps and the whole abutment) conducted stability checks (Overturning, Friction and bearing), using BS5400 and SamLeap5. Produced schedule of bars and liaised with draughtsman to issue final drawings.
Detailed design of bridge highway deck (The Wedges Yard).
Carried out analysis and detailed design of an L-shaped reinforced concrete bridge deck, reinforcement details were passed on to the draughtsman to issue final drawings drawing, using BS5400 and SamLeap5.
Structural inspection and assessment of flood control structures (stop log).
Involved in visual inspection of several structures at different locations, inspection details were used for structural assessments, using different codes (BS5400, BS5950 crane and fatigue) codes and SuperSTRESS.
Structural inspection of 4 movable bridges in the Docklands area.
Involved in inspecting the bridge structures, taken general and specific photos where any defect were noticed at any part of the bridge, drawing sketches on site, followed by a technical report in which the state of the bridge were described and graded in accordance to client’s maintenance programme.
Structural visual inspection of several pipe bridges/pipe supporting structures Preparing Technical Reports including sketches, technical substantiation and advice.
Design of traffic/pedestrian road bridge parapet, Culture Village, Dubai.
Redesigned concrete post and metal rail for a high-level containment , used ASHTO to determine the geometry and BS 5400 to detail design, Challenge Faced; Redesigning a new parapets on an already cast bridge deck with starter bars not in position.

Further Experience
Involved in the following design projects during Engineering Masters study:
Integrated Design Project, 2006 – 2007 of Mersey river Ro-Ro ferry terminal.
As the final Project, carried out preliminary and detailed design for the entire project, combining geotechnical engineering, structural systems and computational hydraulic to design a fully integrated real and current project 2005 – 2006.

Steel Bridge Design, 2005 – 2006
Preliminary and detail design of a steel bridge spanning 210m over a gorge. I was awarded Undergraduate Design Award 2005 – 2006 for steel bridge design, sponsored by the Steel Construction Institute and Corus.

Research into causes of budget overruns and late completion of construction projects.
