Summary |
| Since Malaysia is the largest Palm Oil exporter in the workld, I had the opportunity to start my career in the palm oil industry. Then I had the opportunity to work in one of the largest agricultural-based company (Cargill) as a trainee. Upon completion of my 2 years traineeship, I had the opportunity to take up a position as Maintenance Engineer, however an opportunity comes from BASF Petronas. In 4 years with BASF Petronas, I was promoted after my 1st year of service and I was involved in pre-commissioning and commissiong of the BDO plant. Then I moved to Saudi where I'm still employed until this date. In Saudi, I was promoted from Shift Engineer to Production Engineer G17 in less than a year after joining and in my 4th year I was promoted to G18. In Saudi, I had the opportunity to participate in Pre-commissioning and commissioning activity, involved in Acetal Polishing Unit project and another project that is currently under engineering. I had also the opportunity to be the acting Operating Manager during his absence |
Work Experience |
1. Production Engineer (April 2005 – Present) Saudi International Petrochemical (SIPCHEM)
- Assigned to International Diol Company (IDC), one of SIPCHEM’s affiliate. IDC convert mixed butane to become > 98% n-Butane using UOP technology. The n-Butane is use to produce Maleic Anhydride (MAn) using Hunstman Petrochemical Technology which is then further processed to become 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) and Tetrahydrofuran (THF) using Davy Process Technology. The facility has the capability to produce steam for internal consumption, incinerate process waste and generate power for internal consumption and export as well. IDC also owns truck loading facility which presently handling 3 products.
- Promoted from Shift Engineer to Production Engineer after 6 months joining the company
- Assist Operation Manager in daily plant operation and truck loading facility monitoring
- Ensuring the plant is operate efficiently and in safe manner
- Shutdown coordination including preparation and execution
- Utility consumption and production output budget preparation and tracking
- Logistic coordination with marketing department. Liase with trucking company to ensure smooth operation
- Involve in commissioning and pre-commissioning activity

- Attached to BDO Complex which is the third phase of BPC. BDO Complex process n-Butane to produce Maleic Anhydride (MAn) and is further processed to become 1,4-Butanediol (BDO), Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and gamma butyrolactone (GBL). The facility is having the same technology with SIPCHEM facility. This facility however, has the flexibility to varies product output based on market condition. The facility has the capability to produce steam for internal consumption, incinerate process waste and generate power for internal consumption.
- Promoted from Deputy Shift Supervisor to Shift Supervisor after one year of joining the company
- Assist Production and Process Manager in daily plant operation
- Ensuring the plant is operate efficiently and in safe manner
- Shutdown coordination including preparation and execution
- Utility consumption and production output budget preparation and trekking
- Involve in commissioning and pre-commissioning activity
- Partially involved in BDO quality improvement project
- Develop subordinate training and progression evaluation module.
3. Shift Executive(October 1999 – September 2001) Cargill Palm Products Sdn Bhd
- The site process Crude Palm Oil to Refined Palm Oil and further processed to multiple grade Refined Palm Olein and Refined Palm Stearin. The facility has the flexibility to varies product output based on market condition. The facility also has a truck loading/unloading facility which most of the time handles in excess of 100 road tanks per day.
- Assist Production Manager in daily plant operation
- Ensuring the plant is operate efficiently and in safe manner
- Leading a task force to prepare for bi-annually corporate safety audit. Country safety audit is performed in alternate years with the corporate safety audit.
- Part of a team that prepares for Corporate Presidential Award audit. This is equivalent to Malaysia’s Prime Minister Quality award.

4. Senior Technical Trainee (March 1999 – September 1999)
Premium Vegetable Oils Sdn Bhd
- The site process Crude Palm Oil to Refined Palm Oil and further processed to multiple grade Refined Palm Olein and Palm Stearin, Hydrogenated Palm Oil, Palm Olein and Palm Stearin. The facility also process Palm Kernel into Refined Palm Kernel Oil and downstream products.
