Project management of major port projects in the Mesaieed Port under Qatar Petroleum. Duties involve to provide, with full responsibility and accountability, project management services in the areas of Berth & other Marine Structural works, foundation and structural, during Definition, Detailed Design and Execution stages, ensuring that designs are in compliance with the latest Codes, Standards, Procedures, Practices, National / International and Corporation requirements and procedures. Liaison with other Discipline Engineers and End-Users, co-ordinate with external consultant and construction contractors, in order to develop cost effective and fit-for- purpose design solutions, to fit Corporate requirements, Prepared and reviewed conceptual designs, preliminary designs and detailed designs for facilities and infrastructure work, based on an approved Statement of Requirements (SOR), Coordinated with other divisions to develop Scope of Work (SOW), Specifications and design criteria for facilities and infrastructure projects, to be included in tenders for Engineering Consultancy and/or Construction/EPIC. Convened technical meetings, reviewed designs, drawings, and procedure for FEED and EPIC contracts. Tender analysis of consultancy services tenders was done.
Ongoing projects are Expansion of Gabbro berth and a Container Terminal catering to Panamax vessels. Reviews of submittals in regard to marine works of the above projects were carried out. Vice President (Planning)

Reporting to CEO, the duties were heading all technical activities of a special purpose company engaged in the development, operation and maintenance of a green field deepwater port from concept to commissioning. The port in progress will have 6 container terminals, one ro-ro/ general cargo berth, one edible oil berth, one cruise terminal and a marina. Sand bypassing and beach nourishment are a part of the project. This open sea port will be having two breakwaters to form a calm harbour basin dredged to -16m.

Duties involved optimizing layout plan of port including breakwaters, quaywalls, nautical channel, onshore container yards, equipments, rooad and rail, bridge and traffic, review of designs and reports by consultant (Halcrow India), formulate Design Basis based on the regulations of Local and Union Government stipulations and the agreement between the Port Company and the Government, coordination with consultant, contractors, Government, local bodies, environmental agencies, power suppliers, labour authorities. Responsibility included dealing with lessees of port land and facilities, contractors. Administrative responsibility included advance planning, budgeting and coordination in respect of all the sectors of a port development.

Harbour Expert
Client engineer, technical advisory role from concept to commissioning and maintenance of harbour projects in Sultanate of Oman. The duties performed include formulation of Terms of reference (TOR) for the consultancy for design stage services, tender stage and construction supervision, scrutiny of design packages, model study reports, field data reports, BOQs, Tender documents, tender evaluation reports, tracking activities, payment certificates and progress reports, Conducting of Project Progress Review meetings and contract administration and trouble shooting. Coordination between different agencies involved in project implementation is done. Interactions with international consultants and model study stations were undertaken. Partial list of design review and project management activities below:
o Optimizing layout of various harbours in Oman
o Design review of Block work quay wall in Seeb, Barka and Suwaiq Harbours in Batinah Coast (-6m dredge level),

Joined as Assistant Engineer and rose to the level of Superintending Engineer / Deputy Chief Engineer, the 2nd position in the organization, through different levels.
Harbour Engineering Department of Kerala State plan, design, fund, construct, operate and manage all the harbors in the Sate jurisdiction. They include commercial ports and fishing ports.

Various activities carried out during the tenure were:

• Planning, investigation and design of ports, fishing harbours and marine structures in Kerala. Conducted feasibility studies, prepared project reports and detailed engineering designs in the design wing of the Harbour Engineering Department.
• Associated with research institutes in the physical and mathematical model studies to arrive at the optimum layout of ports from the points of view of sedimentation, tranquility and harbour oscillation, hydraulic design of breakwaters etc.
• Designed various port facilities and marine structures viz. breakwaters, jetties, wharves, caissons, docks, warehouses, transit sheds, cargo handling systems. Partial list of design activities undertaken below:
o Breakwater of Vizhinjam Port (in water depth upto 13m and 450m long)
o Associated in the designs of caissons for Oscillating Water Column device for wave power project at Vizhinjam placed at a sea bed level of -14m
o Block work quay wall at Vizhinjam port for General Cargo Berth at -10m depth
o RCC Pile and deck quay wall at Vizhinjam port (-6 m dredge level, 600 m length)
o Breakwater of Thangassery Port (in water depth upto 10m and 2.50 km long)
o RCC Pile and deck quay wall at Neendakara Port (-4m dredge level, 400 m long)
o Blockwork quay wall at Neendakara Port (-6m dredge level, 250m long)
o Jetties at the mouth of Munambam estuary at Munambam Port
o Jetties at Ponnani port, up to depth of -8m
o Jetties at Beypore Estuary up to -6m sea bed level
o RCC pile and deck quay wall in Beypore Port with a design dredge level of -10m

• Construction/Project management of commercial and fishing ports under the State jurisdiction. Partial list of project management activities executed below:
o Vizhinjam Port with a 180m long blockwork quay wall berth for general cargo for 10m draft vessels, 400 m long RCC piled jetty with a maximum dredge depth of 6m for fishing vessels
o Breakwaters/ jetties and quay walls at the ports of Ponnani, Puthiappa, Chombal, Azhikkal
o Gabion revetments at Ponnani estuary
o EPIC of a wave energy caisson at Vizhinjam
• Prepared Feasibility Reports for the Development of Ports at Ponnani Port and associated closely with the preparation of Detailed Feasibility Reports for the Development of Ports at Azheekkal Port and Vizhinjam.
• Prepared technical specifications, cost estimates, tender documents, evaluated bids and offered recommendations, arranged works through contracts in the capacity of agreement authority.
• Interacted and coordinated with experts and consultants in public and private sectors and contractors.
