Ideal Next Job |
I am a former peace corps volunteer, station in Afghanistan in the early 70's at the time of the overthrow of King Mohammed Zahir Shah. My ideal next job is to return to Afghanistan to assist in the reconstruction of the country. I believe I have the skills, experience and temperament to be an asset to the efforts that are now underway in Afghanistan to provide some stability in the country and give the people a 'leg up' by helping them secure, build, strengthen and expand their government institutions, economy, environment, infrastructure, health care and education systems throughout the country.
If work in Afghanistan is not available, I would like the opportunity to work in development in the Middle East region as a planner/landscape architect on a single status basis opened to all offers. |

Summary |
Over the last 30+ years, I have worked for engineering and surveying firms as a Landscape Architect, Land Planner, Land Surveyor and Project Manager.
I have worked on projects around the world although my participation in those projects was based in the states rather than overseas. The majority of that work was while I was at Camp Dresser & McKee, an international consulting engineering firm with over 100 offices around the world.
I have a considerable amount of planning, design and construction management experience on a variety of multi-disciplinary team projects including regional solid waste facilities, landfills and resource recovery facilities; water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, interceptor and water transmission systems; urban stormwater management systems; remediation of local, regional and nationwide superfund hazardous waste sites; residential, commercial and industrial sites; and park and open space recreational facilities.
I also worked overseas as a technical advisor on two scientific research projects funded by Earthwatch, the first in the Valley of the Queens, Luxor, Egypt (1987) and the second on the Caspian Sea in the former Soviet Union (1990).
I have served three and a half terms as president of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. I have taught site design for Northeastern University’s professional development evening classes, lectured at Harvard Graduate School of Design on surveying practices, and taught High School students in the Waterbury School district about the professions of landscape architecture, planning, surveying and civil engineering through the ACE Mentor program.
