| Controller of two companies with annual revenues in excess of 100 million USD (1980 dollars – easily comparable to a quarter billion today) for seven years. Over 20 years as an entrepreneur, business manager, consultant, and accountant using various “canned” and “home-grown” systems and software to maximize control and production while minimizing costs and inputs. Two years as external auditor with one of the “Big Eight” (forerunner of the “Big Four”) public accounting firms. Certified Public Accountant for almost 30 years, graduate degree in accounting, undergraduate in agricultural economics, both degrees from Ohio State University. |

‘88/96 Harry Jones, CPA. Managing General Partner. Consultation for start-ups, acquisitions, financing, expansion, credit extension, survival strategy, liquidation. Design, implementation, attestation of day-to-day operating procedures, budgets, month-end closings, financial statements. Address investor and third-party compliance concerns. Up to ten associates and employees. Owned/operated two pizza shops (Circoni’s and The Pizza Department), a licensed/bonded oil/gas extraction company (Bootstrap, Inc.), a small handicraft factory, and a small home improvement operation. Also 40% owner/co-operator of a multi-state (Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, Florida) residential property management company (RW Management Group, Inc.). Utilized Mas90 and Lotus for all accounting functions.
‘85/87 Cardinal Industries. Controller. Responsible for all accounting functions for the multi-state property management division of a modular housing manufacturer (Knights Inns). Approximately 25,000 rental units divided into 350 apartment communities, each with its own on-site manager, maintenance and grounds staff, bank account, accounts receivable, accounts payable, in-house payroll, budget, etc. Financial statements for each entity with district and corporate roll-ups. Both investor owned and company owned. Supervised up to 50 accountants, bookkeepers, clerks, secretaries. $100+ million annual receipts. All accounting systems were in-house.
‘80/85 The Butler Company. Controller. Responsible for all accounting functions for a national network of veterinary supply sales locations (20 sites), each with its own management, warehouse, inventory, sales personnel, delivery vans, etc. Budgeting and financial statements were built for each location, and then rolled-up regionally and nationally. Personally managed working capital and debt service. Customer base exceeded 12,000 veterinary establishments. Supervised up to 20 bookkeepers, clerks, secretaries. $100 million annual sales. In-house receivables/payables, ADP general ledger and payroll.

Global accounting/auditing with the view of creating value without damaging culture is an art form in and of itself.
