Responsible to the Project Manager for all Naval Architectural and Weight Control activities associated with the New Build Semisubmersible Mobil Offshore Drilling Rigs “Development Driller 1” and “Development Driller 2”(~$550M). These activities included:
• Design review, detail drawing and procedures review and approval, onsite reviews, raising and answering Technical queries,
• Review and approve Contractors engineering, procedures and drawings to ensure compliance with technical specification and regulatory requirements. Assist the Builder in interpretation and understanding of Owner requirements.
• Review and monitor the rig Construction Specification to ensure compliance with all current regulatory requirements with regards to Naval Architectural tasks. Identify and quantify significant variations and report findings to Project Management to decide course of action. Ensure Builder is aware of his obligations in regards to regulations in effect at contract signing and is acting on all such requirements. Ensure Project Management is aware of any proposed or forthcoming changes in regulatory requirements.
• Develop the Weight Control Procedure and Hull Dimension Control Procedure, organise and monitor the Weight and Dimension Control of hulls, columns and equipment during construction in accordance with international standards.
• Review and approve Builder’s “as-built” drawings, Stability Booklet, Operations Manual for completeness and accuracy, site verification of “as-built” drawings.
• Assist in the performance of construction site inspections as and when required.
• Interface with classification society surveyors, ABS.
• Develop the Inclination Test Procedure, monitor and approve of Inclination Experiments, review and approve Test Reports.
