Project: Grassroots construction of 2, 7.8 million ton-per-year liquefied natural gas plants designed to provide natural gas products to the UK
Member of a Project Management Team charged with supervising activities of a primary contractor, ensuring safety and quality performance, ensuring contractors meets job site specifications, schedule, and productivity objectives, and monitoring progress and making appropriate recommendations to achieve success. Team is charged with reviewing method statements, job safety analysis, safety procedures, quality, and permit approvals. Involved with 2 Process Units and Sulfur Recovery Units. Assume role of Construction Manager during his absence or upon his request. Direct 4 Construction Superintendents and 2 Field Technicians.

ERECTION SUPERINTENDENT – TCC/SSI Joint Venture – Chad, Africa – 2003 to 2004
Project: $3.5 billion, new oilfield with an oil, water, gas treating and separating facility, pumping station with pipelines and permanent housing for construction and production personnel
Hired based on outstanding reputation and construction background. Managed a multi-national, 70-person team comprised of Riggers, Crane Operators, Ironworkers, Overhead Linemen and Truck Drivers. Key activities included productivity, training, safety, material and equipment transportation, providing technical and supervisory support for foundation placement, assembly and erection of structures for 100 miles of 33kv and 66kv power lines for wellheads and other facilities in “bush country.” Assumed management of the structural steel, rigging, crane and material transportation activities to support the entire project.
Led team that performed foundation work, erected steel structures to support power lines and transported materials and equipment for the Overhead Lines Department.
Instrumental in department surpassing its projected productivity goals two-fold. Department achieved a nearly perfect safety record; crews earned safety awards.
RIGGING SUPERINTENDENT – JMSB/KMSB – Malaysia – Aug. 2001 to Aug. 2002
Project: New construction of a liquefied natural gas plant.
Joined project that was 4 months behind schedule based on crane failures and crane/rigging incidents. As Department Manager and one of 4 Rigging Superintendents, focused efforts on ensuring cranes and Riggers were operating safely and eliminating cranes that did not meet project standards and criteria. Key activities included assisting in coordinating the movement of 100 hydraulic and lattice boom cranes (25 to 800 ton capacity) throughout project site, consulting with contractors on safe and productive practices regarding cranes, overseeing on-site heavy lift contractors, and reviewing lift studies and making recommendations. Directed a 100-person team: Riggers, Crane Operators, Ironworkers and Millwrights.
Managed contractor who assembled and erected a 400-foot tall flare stack on schedule with no injuries. Co-managed a heavy lift contractor.
Lowered crane incidents from 5+ per day to nearly 0. Participated in 15-20 lifts ranging from 100-tons to 300-tons – on schedule and without incident.
STRUCTURAL STEEL SUPERINTENDENT – Contrina – Sincor Refinery – Venezuela – June to Dec. 1999
Project: New refinery construction
Managed 3 mechanical subcontractors that were building 3 process crude units simultaneously. Directed structural steel projects and approved/rejected additional work requests from subcontractors.

Project: New refinery / coke construction
Joined project and charged with resolving material management problems with a subcontractor as several tons of materials were missing. Assigned to the Coker Block and worked with other Superintendents; coordinated and managed subcontractors regarding safety, project planning and work practices. Placed emphasis on material control, safety, productivity, approving additional work, and more. Supervised 75 Ironworkers and Welders.
Corrected critical material problem issues, achieved a strong safety record and minimized rework.
SUBCONTRACT COORDINATOR – Mobil Oil Refinery – Chalmette, LA – Feb. to June 1999
Project: Reformer shut down, regenerator screen change out, hydrotreater expansion/turnaround and Paraxylene Unit turnaround
Coordinated efforts of 2 contractors and led 25 Boilermakers, Ironworkers, Crane Operators and Riggers during a short-term shutdown. Installed several platforms and small structures prior to shutdown; obtained work permits and coordinated project work with unit operations.
Completed project on time, on budget; had no lost injuries despite 2 fires that destroyed equipment.
STRUCTURAL IRON GENERAL FOREMAN – Chevron Chemical – Orange, TX – May 1998 to Feb. 1999
Project: Revampment of a high density plastic reactor
Supervised 35 Ironworkers who performed assignments while unit was operating. Activities included planning daily projects with operations staff to avoid any interruptions of operations, performing material take offs, purchasing materials from lay down yard, obtaining work permits and overseeing safety. Involved in a 30-day shutdown to tie in all modifications to existing facilities.
Project was completed on time, under budget and with no injuries.
RIGGING GENERAL FOREMAN – Shell Chemical – Saraland, AL – Mar. to May 1998
Project: Major outage
Coordinated efforts of 35 Riggers, Crane Operators and General Labors, managed movement and productivity of on-site cranes and planned activities between day and night shifts. Project completed on time with no injuries.
SUBCONTRACT COORDINATOR – Mobil Oil Refinery – Chalmette, LA – Aug. 1997 to Mar. 1998
Project: Removal/replacement of 6 exchangers, reinstalling bundles in 70+ exchangers, replacing internals for 5 towers, revamping 2 heaters in #2 Crude Unit
Supervised 80 Crane Operators, Riggers, Boilermakers and Ironworkers; coordinated crane movements, oversaw delivery of materials to site, supported Safety and Quality Control Department. Project completed on time, under budget and with no lost time injuries.

Project: Removal and replacement of old coke drums and parts of a support structure

In conjunction, led crews who pre-assembled new lower and upper steel structures near final erection site, replaced steel members and other mechanical components. Project: Refinery turnaround – replaced 20 heat exchangers, demolitioned and installed 2 new towers, erected 15 Fin Fans, removed old internals and installed new internals in 8 towers in the Acid and Amine Units
