3. Petróleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) Dec.1981 – Feb.2003
Integrated Studies Manager - La Salina Jan.2001 – Feb.2003
Managed the improving of oil and gas production from the La Salina Exploitation Unit through the development of operating plans obtained from integrated reservoir studies undertaken within the same unit. These results were supported with risk analysis, probabilities of success and economic evaluations. The unit ran two different segregations with a total daily production of about 200 KBOO from about 1500 active wells. The remaining oil reserves of this unit were in the order of 4000 million BOO.
Integrated reservoir studies generally led to an annual program for drilling and rehabilitation of wells for the unit associated with a budget of 40KK to – 60KK USD for drilling and about 40KK – 50KK USD for the repairing work.
These studies were supported with a payroll of fifty (50) university professionals: reservoir engineers, geologists, petrophisics, specialists in numerical reservoir simulation, geophysical and other technical personnel. Of this total, 26 professionals were from our own resources and the other 24 were contracted resources, which were managed through five Leaders or Group Leaders.
The unit achieved the ISO 9001 -2000 certification in late 2002.
Secondary Recovery Manager / Special Projects Manager. Jul.1998 – Jan.2001
Managed the analysis of production abnormalities coming from installed secondary recovery projects in western Venezuela in order to recommend corrective actions. The remaining oil reserves annually analyzed averaged about 400 KKBOO and the average number of wells involved in this analysis was around 200. Corrective actions usually led to an annual schedule for rehabilitation and repair of wells in the order of 10KK – 30KK USD and in some cases, drilling wells. In other cases, it was recommended to conduct additional studies. However, when analyzing natural gas injection projects in western Venezuela, the OOIP involved was around the 12000 KKBOO, with remaining reserves of around 1300 KKBOO.
The payroll was conformed by 24 persons: engineers, geologists and a specialist in numerical reservoir simulation. From this total, ten (10) were from our own resource and 14 were contracted and were gathered in working groups.
Superintendent of Planning / Project Leader /Production planning analyst. 1988 – Jul.1998

As a Project Leader in the Management Planning group in Caracas - I oversaw the reviewing of the remaining oil reserves of Lagoven SA (PDVSA subsidiary for that time). The project lasted two years and it was made with the help of 26 professionals from the engineering, geology and supporting staff.
As a planning analyst I oversaw the creation of production plans for the reservoirs in the west of the country, in order to provide enough information for the development of the budget for next year in the Western Division. This budget plans not only contemplated the production of oil, gas and water in the short and in the long run but also surface facilities, disposal and transportation of fluids, drilling effort requirement, among others for all cases.
Oil production associated with Lagoven SA in the west of the country was about 850 thousand BOO per day and whenever integrated with the other subsidiary of PDVSA, in the same region, was in the order of 1.5 KKBOO per day.
Reservoir engineer. Dec.1981 – Jul.1988
Responsible for the surveillance of two oilfields. One with injection of natural gas into the crest and simultaneously, under water injection on the flank and also in geometric arrangements. The 2nd reservoir was under water injection in geometric patterns. Production associated with these two reservoirs was in the order of 35 KBOOPD through approximately 200 active wells.
